1. Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices

All mobile phones and electronic devices must be set to silent mode at all times during the tournament.

2. Mobile Phone Protocol for Groups A and B

  • Players in Groups A and B are required to place their mobile phones on the table for inspection before each game to verify they are set to silent mode.
  • If a player needs to visit the toilet during a game, the mobile phone must be left on the table and not brought along.

3. Food and Drinks Policy

  • No food or sugared beverages are allowed in the competition hall.
  • Only plain water is permitted.
  • Exceptions are made for players on medication, who may bring necessary items with prior notification to tournament staff.

4. Spectator Guidelines

  • Parents and guardians are not allowed to remain in the competition hall during matches.
  • They are kindly advised to exit the hall once the competition has begun.

Prohibition of Electronic Devices

Players are strictly prohibited from carrying any electronic devices that could potentially be used to gain an unfair advantage during a match (e.g., mobile phones, earpieces, tablets, smartwatches, etc.). All such devices must either be placed in full view of the opponent or surrendered to the arbiter prior to the start of the match, subject to the discretion of the Chief Arbiter.

Cheating and Disqualification

The Singapore Weiqi Association takes all competitions seriously and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards cheating.

Any form of cheating during a competition will result in the immediate forfeiture of the match. Furthermore, the offending player will be disqualified and permanently banned from participating in all future tournaments organized by the association.

This regulation was updated on 11 May 2025 by the Tournament Council of SWA.
